Captain Mike Roy

Captain Mike Roy is the founder and operator of Reel Cast Charters, a full-time fishing charter based out of Connecticut. His angling pursuits have taken him across country, as well as internationally, fishing in both fresh and salt water from large mouth bass to giant bluefin tuna.  An innovative angler, he is constantly applying new techniques, and his enthusiasm and passion for the sport are contagious. Captain Mike is a United States Coast Guard OUPV Licensed Captain and graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor’s and Masters Degree in Education.

Captain Mike Morazzini

Mike Morazzini is a lifelong angler with over 25 years spent on the waters of Long Island Sound, Rhode Island and Block Island sound. Although he has considerable experience targeting a variety of fish from large-mouth bass to tuna, sharks, snook and tarpon, Captain Mike’s passion lies with the pursuit of local species; primarily striped bass.

“I was fortunate enough as a young child to grow up two blocks from the shoreline of Long Island Sound. I couldn’t wait to get out of school each day and cast for stripers on the local rocks and piers. Not having the internet as a child allowed my friends and I to learn the fishery through direct experience and knowledge passed down from our elders.”

Mike is a United States Coast Guard OUPV licensed captain and a Biology and Environmental Science educator. He runs the fishing club at Jonathan Law High School and finds great enjoyment teaching and sharing his love and enthusiasm for the sport with others.

Captain Brian Sievel

Captain Brian Sievel grew up in Northwest Connecticut fishing for trout in some of Connecticut’s best trout streams. He soon switched gears to striped bass and he got the bug bad. He spent most of his time surfcasting the shores of Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York. He has spent many hours chasing these fish through the local waters and has a vast knowledge of local haunts and habits.

Captain Jon Morton

Captain Jon Morton is a native of Connecticut and spent the summers as a child crabbing and fishing on the shores of Old Lyme.

He is an honorably discharged veteran of the US Army. He attended UConn and graduated with a BSN in Nursing and has worked at Hartford hospital for over 30 years. Jon enjoys fishing for all species but primarily targets Striped bass. Jon is a US Coast Guard certified O.U.P.V. Captain and a member of New England Saltwater Fishing Club.

Captain John Kuderka

Captain John Kuderka

Upon Graduation, John was commissioned as an officer in the US Army and served honorably for seven years, earning the rank of Captain and deploying twice to Afghanistan during that time. While serving in the Army, John was able to fish all over the United States and internationally, learning many different techniques and styles of fishing. John moved to Virginia following his time in the Army and focused all of his attention on learning the striped bass fishery of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. This newfound knowledge of striped bass translated well when John and his family moved to southeastern Connecticut in 2021. His passion for fishing extends beyond time spent on the water, as he also enjoys building and fishing with his own custom rods.

Captain Dave Yerxa

Captain Dave Yerxa

Captain Dave Yerxa was born and raised in Milford, CT. His love for the ocean began early, sparked by countless hours reading Jacques Cousteau’s books and watching Steve Irwin’s The Crocodile Hunter. By his teenage years, he was spending every summer day along Milford’s shoreline. Flipping beach rocks in search of green crabs, fishing whenever he could, and happily sharing his stories with anyone willing to listen. Captain Dave wanted a career that combined both his passion for wildlife and desire to explore. Uninspired by a traditional corporate path, he turned to the trades, using his work ethic and skills in residential carpentry before ultimately returning to the water, where his passion truly belongs. “It’s funny how life has a way of circling you back to what you cherished most as a child. The opportunity to become a captain came to my local marina. I knew this was my ticket back.” Captain Dave is a United States Coast Guard OUPV Licensed Captain and graduated from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in 2016 where he earned his Bachelor’s in Emergency Management.
