Reel Cast Charters
A Full-time Connecticut-Based Sport Fishing Guide
Reel Cast Charters is a full-time Connecticut-based sport fishing guide service specializing in the Connecticut waters of Long Island Sound. Our fishing guide service is unique in the fact that we do much of our fishing in shallow waters with light tackle. Reel Cast Charters has carved a niche for itself in Northeast sport fishing, providing an experience to anglers like no other by targeting trophy-sized striped bass with light tackle. There is no trolling and no oversized conventional reels—our clients fish live baits, top water and other artificial lures for big fish.
At Reel Cast Charters, we strongly encourage catch and release fishing for the future of our sport, but will be happy to fillet your limit if you wish to keep it for table fare.
Our boat is kept on a trailer, allowing us to get to a hot bite at any location in an instant. Our annual schedule begins in March with trips on the Housatonic and Connecticut Rivers for both holdover and migrating striped bass. Throughout the summer months, our trips are focused on targeting big striped bass residing along the rocky shores of Eastern Connecticut.
In the fall months, we chase surface feeding false albacore, bonito, striped bass and bluefish with light spinning and fly rods for the ultimate adrenaline rush. In addition, we also provide inshore bottom fishing trips throughout the fall for tautog also known as blackfish. Blackfish are spirited fighters and also make for excellent eating! We wrap up our season in December fishing the arrival of the large population of striped bass that spend the winter months in the local rivers.
Reel Cast Charters offers customized fishing trips, so do not hesitate to contact us. If you are interested in the ultimate inshore angling experience unmatched in the Northeast, you have come to the right place. We look forward to fishing with you soon!

A Light Tackle Guided Fishing Charter In Connecticut
Reel Cast Charters is a full-time, year round Connecticut-based sport fishing guide service specializing in the Connecticut waters of Long Island Sound.
I finished my third charter with Captain Mike yesterday 11/10/21. Once again he did not disappoint. I brought my star employee as a reward for her hard work on her first non-Florida based charter. Within 20 minutes of leaving the dock for a Tog trip Captain Mike had taught her to fish soft plastics and “walk the dog” top water spooks so that she was able to land over 30 Striped bass, most in the 26-28 inch range. She caught 2 slot keepers which she released tagged I was able to keep up with her though I am sad to admit her fish were bigger. After some of the best fat schoolie action I have ever had, we motored to the Captain’s Tog spot, where Rosy hit a 9.75 lb White Chin on the first drop. We had a limit in the cooler in 45 minutes then chased down the biting Stripers we had left earlier in the morning to continue doubling up with another 40-50 fish as Captain Mike filleted our Tog. My last cast brought me a keeper, also released, mercifully saving face with Rosy who had proven herself the unquestioned high hook. What a trip and in mid-November. This guy knows what he is doing. Thank you Captain Mike. We will see you again next year.
